Suzuki marine outboard gear oil
SAE90 API-GL-5
GL-5 gearoil
350ml bottle with nozzel for easy gearbox filling
What’s the difference between ATF and SAE?
ATF-oil, type Dexron III
Automatic Transmission Fluid is, by its name, protection used in automatic transmission engines. To do this it has a low viscosity, so it flows easily within the constantly moving parts. It is resistant to extreme heat, reducing friction on moving parts.
SAE
Commonly SAE-90, 75/90, 75/140 gear oil is used in marine Stern drives, Marine drives generally have two shafts (dual prop) which join together to create propulsion, this creates a lot of heat in the lower unit / gear box, so SAE has a higher viscosity meaning its thicker than standard oil. Allowing all vital parts to be coated and protected. Like ATF, it also has a high heat resilience, giving it the ability to protect the engine especially when under load.
